Codename: Let's make some noise!
Changelog:
- Swapped the long wording of "Keyboard | Gamepad" to new sprites I made
- Added a status message when changing keys
- New Mechanic! You can break rocks in the setup phase! This should allow all the seeds to be solvable
- Sound! Added background music for main menu and core game loop. No sound effects yet, but I have the hooks
- Rebuilt the HUD and Main menu in code
- Swapped out the tips on the right hand side for a live enemy count
- Added animated sprites to the HUD! More annoying than it sounds...
Bugs:
- UI Scaling. The epitome of "it looked good on my screen!". Yea, that doesn't look great in the tiny browser window and at full screen it looks tiny.
I'm getting pretty close to what I envisioned the demo would be by the end of the year. I have touched on nearly all of the major systems of Unity (sorry particles, you have to wait...) and I have a playable game. I might have time for one more update before the year is over where I add a score system, add some sound effects, and fix the UI scaling.
I do have an ask. Is the core gameplay fun? I have some ideas for the full game (boss fights, maybe some pickups to change up the runs, lore unlocks for a story) but none of that really matters if the core loop isn't fun. Please let me know!
